I recommend start with “all purpose” one to get start it, I like to get white and black for basic and gray for my project (I guess I love gray) which color you use the most of your fabric, just got one of those too.

5. Tailor chalk
Disappearing ink marker pen (After washing the mark will be gone.)

6. Fabric
Of course, otherwise, what are we going to sew? I always start with cotton and Linen for my top 2 choose, because they are easy to sew and looks good too.

7. Seam ripper
This will help you if you try to adjust the size of your clothes, or sometimes you make a mistake of sewing.

8. Scissors.
Fabric scissors/Thread scissors.
Or you can get all set to like this.

9. Sewing pin and cushion
Dressmaker pin
Pearlized head pin.
Pincushion.

10. Sewing bobbins.
I love to have a case to keep them organize instead let them roll around all over.
Bobbin: Make sure they fit with your machine or get universal kind.

11. Iron machine.

12. Measurement tape.

13. Ruler.

How to set up sewing studio in small budget

Get free sewing pattern here.

✮✮✮✮✮✮
Here’s how I set up my tiny sewing studio inside 700 square feet apartment in Texas, all cost around $100 dollars, let see what it is:
1. Ikea table | $35 with leg
2. Thread organizer | from Walmart ($10+) but you also can get it on Amazon.
3. Iron machine $8 from Walmart ($10+) but you also can get it on Amazon.
4. Sewing tool boxes $25 dollars, WalMart but you also can get it similar on Amazon.
5. File box $2.99 – 3.99 don’t remember from ikea.
6. Mason jar half dozen from the grocery store around $9.
7. Flower vase (FFRE from the chocolate container.)
8. Flower $0.97 per one from Walmart.
9. Iron stand with my mother in law, so it’s free, but you also can get used from garage sale or on Amazon:http://amzn.to/2coKI5P

So here’s my total cost: $128, not include my sewing machine, but if you can find second-hand stuff, you can even lower your budget!

Let me know what you think in the comment, thanks!!

[Sew Fun Course Day 2] How to choose fabric for your project?

Pick up some fun project is fun and exciting, but if the project result didn't turn out the way you want is disappointed. To cut down the disappointment, I have little practice will help you get the right one!

1. What it for?
The first question ask what it for?
For clothes? Start with cotton. linen won't go wrong.
For Bag? Start with canvas, denim.

2. What kind of feel do you want to create?
Elegant soft or feminine —-> Thin, lightweight soft cotton, linen or knit.
Neutral —-> Mid-weight gray, blue, or nature texture, cotton, linen, polyester.
Future looking—-> Sharp and new texture, silver, navy blue, or gold.

3. Visualize
It takes the practice of this one, but I will recommend you can get a piece paper, draw your design you plan to make, use scissors to cut it out, and they put fabric under that paper, then it will give you a picture of finish looking.

4. Collect them each time you have a project.
Collect small piece each fabric you have, size can be 10cm x 10cm or 5cm x 5cm doesn't not really matter, just keep organize on a hard paper. You can go get a sketch book or print out this resource I create for you to keep your fabric in the place!
